Design Team make it Monday: Shrink plastic

 

Hi, here is Simone, another "Make it Monday" for you and also my first tutorial...

I would like to show you some ideas using Shrink plastic. I created these little tags with my Shrinkies. Aren't they cute? And it's so easy!

 

Your design shrinks to 45% its original size! What a fun! 

You need:

Shrink plastic (I prefer white if I color the images),colored Pencils (Polychromos, Prismacolor, Derwent...), Staz On (Jet black), Rubber Stamp (Strawberry Beatrice, Cherry Lucy), Diamond Glaze (as a Sealer), Scissors

 

Stamp your image on shrink plastic. I prefer StazOn, it works perfect with Polychromos.

Cut out your design with regular scissors.

 

Bake on a baking sheet. Avoid baking on bare metal - it will stick together! Bake in a regular oven at 300° to 350° (150-170°C) for several minutes, or heat with an embossing heat tool. But the oven works so much easier... Expect Shrink plastic to curl and move during baking - don't worry :o)

After baking I use Diamond Glaze as a Sealer- it makes it shiny and protects the colors.

Cut Shrink plastic with Spellbinders/any Dies, to make your own Embellishments.

Punch holes with a paper punch- they will shrink too! So make sure it is big enough. I used my Crop a dile- that work's perfect.

 

 

...just a little impression about the sizes before and after shrinking...

 

...or use your Dies... how cute is the little watering can? I used Watering Can Die, Umbrella Die , Ticket Die and Fence Border Die...

A Special Thank You

 

Happy Memorial Weekend! From Patty, in rainy Idaho!

I don't think we are going to have spring this year! I wanted to make a special thank you for my grandson's kindergarten teacher. She has made his first year of school so special. She is a fantastic teacher...so a big shout out to Mrs. Needles at Sagebrush Elementary School in Wyoming! You are the best.

 

As soon as I spied the Darby Sprite images at All That Scraps, I knew it would make a fun thank you card.

Darby comes in rubber or digi form so you can satisfy your particular preference. I used my Copic pens to color Darby.

If you have not used the C.C. Designs Flower Boarder Die or the C.C. Designs Grass Boarder Die you have missed a treat. They are fantastic and work well with any image. Plus, they cut heavy card stock with no problem. I love them!

I added some Kaisercraft self adhesive pearls to the center of some of my flowers. Two tiny tag sentiments and Kaisercraft self adhesive rhinestones finish off my fun thank you card.

Beach Kit

I have a fun treat for you all today.  :)  Mariska created this adorable beach card for our viewing pleasure using the new Sugarplums Beach Kit.  I love all the fun details. Mariska said that she had the most fun gathering the shells with her kids.  How fun is that?  Her 3-d details still blow me away.

May Release Tuesday Review

We are reviewing Mashi's Muffin stamps today-

 

Mary brings us Mashi's Muffins Gnome, on her card she used AmyR All About Dad, C.C. Designs Cutter Flower Border Die, and C.C. Designs Cutter Grass Border Die

 

Simone also brings us the Gnome, she create a CAS (clean and simple) card.

 

Delphine finishes our reviews with Bumble Bella. On her card she also used CC Cutters Grass Die, Flower Border, Curly Q and sentiment from the Bees Knees Logos

Design Team Make It Monday - Gift Pocket

 Nancy here for another make Make-It-Monday project for you today. I created a gardening themed pocket for an easy gift idea for your favorite gardener.

 

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece 8 x 6 ¼ inches from sturdy/thick patterned paper. Note that I used paper that had a subtle pattern to it as it act as the background. Score the cut piece at the half way (four inch) mark. Then score the long sides at 3/8 each up to the 4 inch score and then cut to the end, creating two 3/8 flaps on the front. Do this for both sides. Use the C.C. Designs Circle Die Cutter or large punch to make an oversized notch in the front. Apply adhesive (I used double sided tape) on the scored flaps.

 

2. Wrap the front flaps to the back and secure.

 

3. Stamp the image (Sweet November Tilly), color with Copic Markers then cut out.

 

4. Cut various garden themed diecuts using C.C. Designs Cutters (Fence Border, Mistletoe, Sunflower). Note that I embossed the fence using a woodgrain embossing folder to give it some texture.

 

5. Attach the die cuts and stamped image to create a gardening scene on the front of the pocket.

 

6. Create a gift tag to insert in the pocket. I used C.C. Designs Cutters for the elements (Circle, Butterflies) plus a rolled rose die from My Favorite Things for a flower.

 

7. Assemble items to include in the pocket. Mine are a couple of seed packets, the tag and paper doilies.

 

8. Strategically place items in the pocket, stuffing with tissue where needed to make it more puffy and to keep the items from slipping around inside. You could also include a a gift card from the recipients favorite gardening center and/or give with a plant in a decorative container.

 

This project easily translates to other themes by changing up the stamps and dies. I hope you have enjoyed. Have a great week!

Distressing with Magnolia

Good morning!!

Calypso here with my second attempt at a distress colored Magnolia  card.

This is Magnolia Ribbon Hair: You're So Speciall and she is no longer available at the ATS Store. 

Speaking of no longer available, you really need to head over to the ATS Store, because all Magnolia's are currently 25% or 50% off and when they are gone, they are gone. 

 

So for my card today, I used the following tools:

Cherry Lucy

Silvie made this beautiful card for us showcasing Cherry Lucy and the fun ticket dies.  I love how she rolled some tickets on the side.  How cute is Lucy sitting on her twine?
